A wall-mounted split cools well, but you see it. When the finish matters — a living room, a penthouse, a reception area — the alternative is a ducted system: a fan coil hidden above the ceiling and slim linear diffusers where the air comes out. From the floor you don't see a unit, you see a line. At 24clima we install that system turnkey in Panama City: fan coil, insulated ducts, diffusers, drainage, access doors for servicing and the gypsum ceiling that wraps around it — one crew, one contract, from $6,000. The visit and the quote are free, and the installation carries a 365-day warranty.

Why have 24clima do your concealed AC?

  • One contractor for both the cooling system and the ceiling. Nobody will tell you the problem belongs to the other trade: the same company signs off on the install and the finish.

  • Nearly invisible linear diffusers, flush with the ceiling. Air reaches the whole room evenly and the equipment disappears from view.

  • Concealed access doors in the ceiling, allowed for from day one so the fan coil can be cleaned and the drain checked without breaking anything.

  • A 365-day warranty on the complete installation and a fixed price before we start: $6,000 – $20,000 depending on area, tonnage and air outlets.

How is a concealed air conditioner installed?

  1. 1

    Free visit and quote

We come to your space, measure, confirm the tonnage and agree with you where the diffusers go and how far the ceiling drops. The quote is fixed and with no obligation.

  2. 2

    Fan coil and ducts

We hang the fan coil on anti-vibration mounts, run the insulated ducts and the copper line to the condenser, and set the drain with a real slope.

  3. 3

    Diffusers and access doors

We fit the linear diffusers and the return grille, and leave discreet access doors exactly where servicing will need them.

  4. 4

    Ceiling, compound and handover

We close it up with a gypsum ceiling, tape, apply compound and sand it ready to paint. We test the system with you present and hand over with a 365-day warranty.

Sources and references

Our technical recommendations are based on guidelines from international HVAC and energy authorities.

  • ASHRAE Standard 62.1 sets minimum ventilation rates and requires access for cleaning system components — which is why equipment concealed above a ceiling needs access doors allowed for in advance.
  • ENERGY STAR notes that poorly sealed or uninsulated ducts lose a significant share of conditioned air before it reaches the room; sealing and insulating them is key to getting the rated performance.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hide the air conditioner?
From $6,000 for one zone of up to 40 m². A full apartment of 100–150 m² runs between $9,000 and $20,000. The amount depends on the square meters, the tonnage the space needs and the number of air outlets. The visit and the quote are free, and the price is fixed before we start.
How far does the ceiling drop?
Typically 25 to 35 cm along the strip the ducts run through; the rest of the room can stay higher. We measure it during the visit and tell you exactly how much height you lose before you decide.
How is it serviced if you can't see it?
We leave discreet access doors in the ceiling, right below the fan coil, the filter and the drain. They open without breaking anything, and through them we clean and service the unit exactly as we would an exposed one.
Does it work in an apartment that is already finished?
Yes, as long as there is enough free height and a route for the ducts and the drain. During the visit we check the height, the run to the condenser and where the drain can go; if it isn't viable we say so right away, at no charge.
What about drainage and condensation?
That is the critical point of concealed equipment: we set the drain with a real slope, insulate the ducts so the ceiling doesn't sweat and, where there is no natural fall, fit a condensate pump. That is what keeps damp stains off the gypsum.
Is the gypsum ceiling included?
Yes. The price covers the gypsum ceiling around the system: framing, board, tape, compound and sanding ready to paint. One crew installs the cooling and closes the ceiling, under one 365-day warranty.
Is it the same as central air conditioning?
In Panama that is what people call it. What we install is a ducted system: a fan coil hidden above the ceiling pushes cold air through ducts to linear diffusers in every room. It is the same principle as the central air of a large house, applied to an apartment or an office, and we hand it over turnkey with the gypsum ceiling already closed.
What is a fan coil?
It is the indoor unit of the system: a long box with a blower and a coil that hides above the ceiling, in a service closet or inside the strip the ducts run through. From the room you see nothing of it — only the linear diffusers the air comes out of and the access door we clean it through. The condenser goes outside, just like on any split.

Ducted system or just a gypsum ceiling?

Concealed air conditioning (from $6,000) includes the fan coil, ducts, linear diffusers, drainage, access doors and the gypsum ceiling around it: you book it when you want the equipment out of sight. If your AC is already installed and all you want is a smooth surface, LED coves or stepped levels, then plain gypsum installation is what you need, from $35/m².
